This is a tad late, but hey what the heck.I haven’t posted anything, in here since December the 22nd. 2020. Wow, what year are we in now ? 2022 ?! I guess Them sat it´s just a number but still …They say, “time flies when you're having fun” right? Why even bother? Well I love writing and honestly I really cherish going back in time and reminiscing, reflecting and remembering how things have gone. But since this is almost a year and a half late it will be a shorter version, images might not be as picture perfect. But since this is a little like a scrap book, it feels just right - that year 2021 is a little less polished and a bit odd.2021 recap - here we go,What was the winter like?We explored the lakes around the Greater Copenhagen, we went for so many walks during winter, baked raisin buns, brought coffee on our thermos and found a new lake or some new area with some woods every weekend. Trying to keep sane during the entire Covid-19 madness. The world was turning slower - and ours was for sure on a pace which was much more relaxed as well. We very depot fruistrated, but we Los felt lucky Living in a part of the world and Europe for that matter were things were much more open.
What was May all about?
We decided to celebrate mini and my mans birthday somewhere else. A staycation at Hornbæk Hus was a weekend to remember. Our first trip away from home, where we also spent the night. It was actually quite stressful because we were still figuring out how to travel as a trio. Note to self, pack less and an iPhone with Fantorangen is god gifts to parents who simply want top enjoy a warm meal. I remember the first dinner, it was served around 19:00, quite late according to our bed time routine. The first 10 minutes went great, we read our book and drew with our pencils. And then the smallest member of the family started to freak out and was all over the place, I went for a walk and looked around and understood why every single table with kids had an iPad … Well there goes all of out good intentions ! Bring on the screen.
I loved this place and we have been back - lovely interior, friendly staff and really nice food. A well needed color explosion after a pretty grey winter periode.
Where did you spend your summer holidays?
We went to Ærø, amongst others. Felt the wind in our hairs and went swimming in the biggest waves. It was windy and even rained but we loved it. Fell in love with Rise Præstegaard which is run by an old colleague of mine, who simply runs the most welcoming and big hearted bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed a few days off. Borrowed a car and drove around the island. Went for a swim on one side and drove around for a bite to eat. We enjoyed returning for more than a day because we could really just explore and enjoy ourselves.
How did you celebrate your birthday?
We did really explore Copenhagen and it´s little gems close by during Corona. So we had booked another stay away from home, a small bed and breakfast called: Kildegaarden. Another little secret hiding place. When we arrived we couldn’t believe that it was for real. My expectations were so high and they ticked all the boxes. Old regular guests who seamed to belong to the place. The massive, long sandy beach we had all to ourself and the best breakfast buffet ever. We sat for hours and enjoyed reading the newspaper and drinking strong coffee. We were heading back to Copenhagen on my birthday - but decided to spend the day at the beach, and came up for cake and bubbles before we took the train back.
What was New Years like this year?
We went back and forth, where did we want to order food from, should we decide for a set meny or rather create our own. But in the end we actually decided on Cofoco.
And boy did they deliver !!!
I love out tradition about celebrating on our own. We love being the three of us and this is simply such an exhausting day and I really like that it´s only ours. No one we need to consider, but we can simply do as we please. We drank champagne all day and cooked the fun meals, we all got dressed up and saw both the Danish queen and the Norwegian kings speech. Had snacks and “kransekage” and fell asleep before Midnight. Then woke up from all the fireworks and stood all three of us and looked out of the window.
Happy New Year 2022 - Here we go.
If I were to sum this year up in three images, these would be pretty accurate:
Homemade bread with Jarlsberg cheese, regular everyday. 2021 was filled with it - such a slow year with so few plans but still just perfect.
The mask - now I can hardly remember how it was wearing it all the time. New normal …
And the fact that mini is with us now - the last image is just so - yeah life with kids I expect :)
